Olena was born and raised in Yakutsk, graduated the Higher School of Music as a professional pianist. She has been playing the traditional musical instrument Khomus (jaw harp) since 6 years old. Khomus helps people remember their roots, discover new meanings inside and around, transferring them to another musical space, reconnecting people with Mother Nature. According to the beliefs of the peoples of the North, the ancient vibrations of the khomus cleanse, fill with strength and energy, bestow harmony and restore the balance of the three principles, three elements of a person (Yus Kut).
Olena Uutai is a person who sings in the language of the Nature. She uses several types of northern throat singing that imitate the sounds of nature and its phenomena, the voices of various birds, animals, spirits, totems. Olena produces such onomatopoeias, including with the help of a khomus. She plays the jaw harps of different ethnic groups, shamanic drums, flutes and combines all this in the format of an ultra-modern sound — from an authentic ancient root sound to new colors and rhythms of the future.
